14 days later: This Week In Photos

Sunday, May 3: This was an emotional day. I wasn’t ready to see the destruction at Patan Durbar Square. The temples here aren’t completely destroyed like at the Basantapur/KTM Durbar Square but every single structure here was badly damaged. I met this shopkeeper and his grandson.

Monday, May 4: Young volunteers raising money for a small town on the outskirts of Kathmandu called Malta. I wrote about them on this post here. We dropped off some food and medicines at an orphange that I heard about on reddit. There were about 45 people living there.

Tuesday, May 5: Coffee with Dev + Reddit AMA.

Wednesday, May 6: Nagarkot and Helicopter to Sindupalchowk District — This was the most incredible days of my life. I stumbled out of bed at 9:30 and mom says “do you want to go to nagarkot, there’s a medical team from america?” I said. “Yes. When?” She said “Now!” (I’m been saying YES to all questions nowadays.) I was out the door in 15 minutes. There was a health clinic in Nagarkot. I met Dr. Rahim and he said “Do you want to come with us to see the relief efforts?” YES! Helicopter from Dhulikhel Hospital to the remote villages in Sindupalchowk District. If you want to help any relief effort in Nepal, please make it Dr. Rahim’s JRM Foundation. They’re doing incredible work and reaching the areas that others have ignored. When I got home, I was angry and frustrated. There’s so much destruction and loss here in Sindupalchowk District, but the relief efforts are nowhere in sight.

Thursday, May 7: Ekta Academy Health Clinic — Dr. Rahim and the JRM Foundation. Over 350 patients walked through the gate and were seen by a doctor. Blog post about this coming soon…

Friday, May 8: Writing away at a coffee shop. I have a new favorite coffee shop in town thanks to my buddy Dev. I’ve been spending quite a bit of time there since this day. I published this, this and this.

Saturday, May 9: Skycatch team in KTM. Write in coffee shop — published a nice article about Skycatch mission in Nepal. It’s really interesting. Read it here.

Sunday, May 10: Write away in my favorite coffee shop — published article about Dr. Pramod Khanal (he’s awesome), and 3 short stories about everyday people stepping up and making a difference.

That’s Week Too.
I’m gonna go take a nap meow.
