Top 8 Lessons From SingularityU India Summit on Exponential Technologies in Mumbai

The first ever SingularityU India Summit in association with INK Talks kicked off in Mumbai’s Grand Hyatt Hotel on Friday, February 26, 2016.
Singularity University (SU) is based in Menlo Park, California, and on a mission to educate, inspire and empower individuals, businesses, institutions, investors, NGOs and governments to understand and apply exponential technologies to address humanity’s grand challenges and positively impact billions of people. While, INKtalks is India’s foremost platform for cutting edge ideas and inspiring stories.
The SingularityU India Summit is a 2-day event packed with presentations by thought leaders, entrepreneurs and researchers in fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Autonomous Cars, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Infinite Computing, and several more technologies along the exponential path best understood by the Moore’s law.
“If you think linearly in an exponential world, you get Kodaked. Either you disrupt yourself or you get disrupted.”
- Peter Diamandis, Co-Founder & Chairman of Singularity University
“Robots are not about replacing humans. But about empowering humans.”
-Rob Nail, Associate Founder & CEO of Singularity University
“If you are making plans for 2025 right now. Your plans are wrong. I don’t know how. But they are. You can’t apply 2016 thinking to 2025.”
-Brad Templeton, Networks & Computing Chair at Singularity University
“Blockchain is the OS. Bitcoin is an app. The blockchain represents the final stage in the elimination of paper.”
-Brock Pierce, Blockchain Capital and Chair of the Bitcoin Foundation
“76% of CEOs are struggling to keep up with new technology. 23% are blissfully unaware. 1% get it.”
Kent Langley, Faculty, Singularity University and CEO, Ekho Inc.
“Imagine a time when your toothbrush can diagnose your health, every morning, before your doctor does.”
Mike Gillian, MD, FACEP.
“Our education system is not broken. It is obsolete. In an exponential world, there is no problem that entrepreneurship and technology can’t solve.”
- Naveen Jain, Founder, Moon Express. Board member, Singularity Foundation.
“We want a world of honeycombs, not sugar mommies and daddies to build the new world.”
- Lakshmi Pratury, Founder and CEO, INKtalks.
I’m grateful to be here, not just to report on this summit, but to learn the cutting edge technologies that are on the cusp of disruping every industry in the world. As Peter Diamandis says, “Either you disrupt yourself, or someone else will.” It’s not often you hear the words “My friend Elon (Musk)” and “Yeah, I know Jeff (Bezos). He’s my neighbor”.
A conference is never just about the talks on stage, and the real magic happens in the hallways. This SingularityU India Summit is being live streamed to 8+ colleges across India, and the talks may be released publicly at a later date.
Stay tuned for an exclusive crowdsourced interview where I sat down with Peter Diamandis to talk about basic income, cyronics, robots taking your jobs, Mars and much more.
We’re all set to begin Day 2 of SingularityU India Summit in association with INKtalks in a few short minutes. More on that and much more soon.
